What We Believe
We Believe...
That the Bible is the fully inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule for faith and practice, doctrine and discipleship; and these Holy Scriptures reveal the eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere-present, unchanging, and only God –-one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Therefore we believe…
In God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and all things visible and invisible.
In Jesus Christ our Lord, the Son of God, who for our salvation came down from heaven and was made man; conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived, suffered, was crucified, died, and was buried. The third day he rose from the dead. He ascended into heaven, but He shall come again to judge both the living and the dead. His Kingdom shall have no end.
In the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who today accomplishes the salvation and spiritual growth of man, showing Himself in the operation of spiritual gifts and development of spiritual character among men and women, empowering them for Christian service and testimony.
That the Church is a living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated believers are members. This Church manifests itself in the multitude of assemblies world-wide where believers gather together for worship and praise, prayer, the preaching of the Word of God, and fellowship.
That all men and women have sinned, thus their fellowship with God is broken and they risk eternity in hell without God. Only by grace, through repentance and faith in Christ Jesus, are men and women saved from sin and reconciled to God who created them in his image and loves them. The believer in Christ is called to discipleship in a local church and looks for the resurrection of the body and life everlasting in heaven.
Our statement of faith derives from the Nicene Creed an ancient creed generally ascribed to by most Christians before Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Coptic, and Protestant divisions were so clearly drawn:
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
