Elena grew up in the Soviet Union era as a strong atheist. She was a teacher in a Russian school until 2001. That year she was offered a nanny position for  a missionary family from the United States. For several years the family had been earnestly praying for her. In 2004 she joined a Mother Wise Bible study led by them. Through this study she was introduced to the Gospel and the concept of salvation. After experiencing a great personal encounter with God, her life was completely transformed.

When she accepted Christ some years ago, she became actively involved in multiple ministries in a Russian church. She has been a women’s Bible Study leader, a curriculum coordinator in an evangelical English Camp for several years, a translation service leader, a Sunday school trainer, and a mentor. For the last ten years, she has been teaching at Hinkson Christian Academy, an English-speaking school for missionary kids in Moscow.

While she was working and serving missionary families in her home country God has been preparing her heart for a different ministry. Through prayers and ministry at an evangelistic English camp in Spain, God led her to join LIFE International School in Madrid province. The school emphasizes Biblical integration and its student body is 100%  ESL (non-native English speakers).

Elena’s passion is to teach children to know the Lord and train them to walk with Him in obedience. Through her work with ESL students at LIFE International School in Tres Cantos, near Madrid, she will reach the parents, their families, and local teachers for Christ. The fundamental goal is to transform Spain, the least evangelized Spanish-speaking country in the world, by raising strong Christian leaders through Christian education.

She has known Mark and Christina Currie through their work with Hinkson for a number of years. As she began searching for guidance in the new direction God was leading her the Fords suggested to contact Mark Currie. From the very first meeting Elena felt strongly that God was leading her to join NHI.  She moved to Spain in August 2017 and returned to Russia later to become President of Hinkson Christian Academy in Moscow.

Elena has two adult children, Anton who lives and works in Russia and Sasha who lives with her husband and little son in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
